Exclusively extraordinary, tranquil and tropical, the Galley Bay resort has earned an internationally ranked and well-deserved reputation as one of the top places to stay in the world. Tucked on the western coast of Antigua, Galley Bay's secluded 40 acres lie behind Hawkshill and Deep Bay, lapped by the Caribbean and a sugar-sand beach on one side and a natural lagoon and exotic bird sanctuary on the other. The tropical gardens, thatched beachfront cottages, and fabulous architecture are inspired by the French artist Paul Gauguin, whose name graces one of the resort's fine restaurants. Guests are first welcomed at an historic Sugar Mill reception, setting the stage for a striking experience.

This all-inclusive resort inspires guests to do nothing or everything, with amenities suited precisely for both modes. The active may choose to tone at the fitness center; serve at the tennis courts; surf, snorkel, or sail at the watersports center; hike the walking trails; watch birds in the sanctuary lagoon; or play at bikes, croquet, horseshoes, or table tennis. The freeform, stone-drenched waterfalls at the freshwater pool offer a place to relax or splash. Just a short 20 minute drive away is the closest beach for kitesurfing, Jabberwock. For a more sedentary style, guests may choose an afternoon at the Galley Bay Salon and Body Care spa, where a vast variety of treatments await to beautify and pamper every imaginable area of one's body. Relaxation ideas may include a visit to the library, offering a variety of books and Internet access.

Rooms at Galley Bay range from the Tahitian-style Gauguin Cottages with private plunge pool, its two separate thatched rooms offering a sleeping room and a dressing/shower room. A variety of beachfront rooms and cottages create a stunning environment just a few steps from the beach, made more inviting by spacious bathrooms and gracious touches. All rooms have king-size beds, televisions and telephones, and a rollaway can be provided for Deluxe and Premium Beachfront triples.

All-inclusive dining options include the beachside Lounge Bar, featuring the soft rhythmic melodies of a steel pan band. The spacious Sea Grape restaurant features colorful Caribbean cuisine masterminded by an award-winning chef. For more cozy and casual dining, the Gauguin Restaurant offers ocean views and thrills from the grill. The cone-shaped, thatched Teepee Bar welcomes sunsets with hors d' oeuvres and tropical drinks.
