On a hillside in eastern Crete, the Castri Village Hotel offers the kind of panoramic views that memories are made of. The hotel looks out over the deep blue of the Kouremenos Bay and the east Libyan Sea, surrounded by the ruggedness of the mountains. The hotel literally climbs up the hillside, offering mostly unobstructed views from each rising level. The asymmetrical cubic architectural style hints of the traditional Cretan villages of the past. The hotel is located just over a mile from the village of Palekastro, and not far from the sea. The Castri Village offers 15 apartments with up to five beds, and 17 studios with up to three beds. Each is fully furnished with large verandas, equipped kitchens, private baths, telephones, and TV/music on request. The facilities include a spacious swimming pool with an amazing view; a children's pool; and a poolside outdoor Greek tavern and music bar. Guests can also enjoy a video lounge with satellite TV and an indoor restaurant serving regional dishes. Other services include airport transfer, laundry service, currency exchange, safe deposit box, car/motorbike rental, and a windsurfing station. Live music entertains the guests on Saturday nights.
