Two locations on the long Tarifa beach offer equipment and courses, both fully stocked and prepared for all levels of windsurfers. The center at the dune area at the Valdevaqueros Hotel also offers kiteboarding rental and lessons from its Skyriders operation, while the Hurricane Hotel venue only offers windsurfing.
The Valdevaqueros Las Dunas (the dunes) spot may just be the best in Tarifa, surrounded by a park with a fabulously wide sandy beach and blessed with incredible winds. A protective bay offers some buffer for beginner lessons, but if the wind is too strong, beginners’ instruction may not be available. The crew here speaks English, German, French, Spanish, Swedish, Polish; quite the international set.
The center carries around 70 boards and 100 rigs of various sizes, and includes wetsuits at no charge. The staff teaches beginner to advanced lessons in small group or private settings, with a video clinic available. A rescue boat is on hand.
At the Tarifa Hurricane center, the staff speaks English, Spanish or French. This location has around 50 boards and 70 rigs as well as the safety rescue boat. And when you’re done with the water, you can rent mountain bikes or make arrangements for climbing and horseback riding expeditions.
