If I travel outside of my own country, what documents will I need?

For US passport requirements, application forms, where to apply, and other passport and international travel information, visit the US Department of State’s Passport Services at http://www.travel.state.gov.

Each person must have the proper documents (correct visa; up-to-date passport) for travel outside their country of citizenship. You can find documentation guidelines for traveling to the locations we have listed on Extreme Elements on each destination page’s FAQ section. However, to obtain and confirm travel documentation requirements, contact the embassy or consulate of the countries in your itinerary, including those countries in which you may be visiting along the way. You can also contact your airline for further information on travel documentation requirements, embargos, travel advisories, and/or additional requirements that may apply to the countries in your itinerary.

Do I need any special documents to check into an international hotel?

Yes. You’ll need a valid credit card issued to the name on your guest reservation for any incidental charges (e.g., phone calls, room service). Debit cards are not accepted. International hotels request identification via a valid ID and proof of citizenship. This can be established by presenting either: 1) a passport, or 2) a driver’s license and an original (or a certified copy) of a birth certificate.
